I Came Back to the Plants
Crushed Botanicals didn't begin with a product line or a business plan.
It began with a return.
A return to the plants. To slower ways of making things. To the knowledge passed down through generations that reminded me there was value in paying attention—to the seasons, to the land, and to what our bodies are trying to tell us.
There were seasons of my own life when my body no longer felt familiar. Hormonal changes, motherhood, pregnancy and postpartum, exhaustion, anxiety, depression, and the particular kind of burnout that comes from spending years caring for everyone around you while slowly forgetting to care for yourself.
I searched for answers. Sometimes conventional medicine helped. Sometimes the answers I was given didn't match what I was experiencing.
So I kept learning.
And I came back to the plants.
Not as a rejection of modern medicine, but as a remembering of something older.
Rooted in Tradition
Long before Crushed Botanicals had a name, herbs were already part of my life.
I learned to recognize plants, grow them, gather them, dry them, infuse them, and understand the traditional ways they had been used for generations. Over the years, that knowledge grew through study, experience, curiosity, and countless hours spent with the plants themselves.
There is something profoundly different about knowing where an ingredient came from.
Some of the botanicals we use begin in the fields, gardens, and wild spaces of North Georgia. They are harvested thoughtfully, with enough always left behind for the plants, pollinators, and next season.
Others are carefully sourced when they cannot be grown or responsibly gathered here.
Then we give them time.
Herbs may spend weeks slowly infusing into oils before they ever become a salve or balm. Grass-fed beef tallow is carefully rendered before becoming the base of our whipped skincare. Teas are blended in small batches. Botanical extracts are prepared intentionally rather than rushed simply to put another product on a shelf.
That slower process is part of what Crushed Botanicals means to me.
From My Apothecary to Yours
Today, Crushed Botanicals Apothecary is a collection of the things I have learned, grown, gathered, formulated, and made along the way.
You'll find handcrafted tallow skincare, herbal salves and oils, loose-leaf teas, botanical extracts, traditional herbs, body care, wellness blends, and products created for different seasons of life.
Some formulations are simple.
Some took years of learning and adjusting.
But they all begin with the same question:
How can I make this thoughtfully, with ingredients I would feel comfortable bringing into my own home?
That's why we work in small batches. It's why I care about where the plants come from. It's why some preparations take weeks instead of days.
And it's why Crushed Botanicals will always feel more like an apothecary than a factory.
Made Slowly. Made Intentionally.
I believe there is still a place for old knowledge in a modern world.
I believe plants deserve our respect rather than just becoming another ingredient on a label.
I believe what we put on and into our bodies deserves thought and intention.
And I believe sometimes wellness begins with something very simple:
Paying attention.
Slowing down.
Remembering what generations before us already knew.
This is Crushed Botanicals Apothecary.
Rooted in North Georgia.
Inspired by traditional herbalism.
Handcrafted in small batches.
Made with intention.
